The range of the force sensor refers to the rated load of the sensor. The common unit is KG and N. If the measurement range is 100KG, the pressure sensor measurement range is 0-100kg.

1、Prevent overload

The actual pressure must be within the range of the transducer. For example, if the actual pressure is 10KG, the selected range cannot be less than 10KG. The sensor determine the amount of pressure the pressure through the micro deformation of metal. Metal materials have their own loss of effect pressure. If sensor reaches the loss of effect pressure value, it will be damaged and can not be repaired.

2、Accuracy of measurement

Precision=measuring range*precision coefficient. It can be seen that the smaller the measuring range of the same type of sensor, the higher the precision. For example, the actual pressure is 50KG, the load cell with a selection range of 100KG is definitely more accurate than the pressure sensor with a selection range of 500KG.

Therefore, we choose the range of the sensor as much as possible to retain 10%-30% redundancy, which can prevent the pressure sensor overload. For example, the maximum pressure to be measured is 70KG, and a sensor with a 100KG range can be selected.

3、Lateral pressure

Under some working conditions, the operation of the equipment mechanism will bring a certain lateral force to the sensor, thus affecting its measurement accuracy and life. For example, the lateral force of the S-type pressure sensor is recommended not to exceed 10%, and the spoke type pressure sensor is recommended not to exceed 50% of the measurement range. Too much lateral force will damage the pressure sensor.

In a word, we choose the range of pressure sensor to choose according to the actual situation. In the selection process, the range and other parameters can be communicated with the manufacturer.
