When Force Takes Shape: How does the S-type force Sensor Reshape Industrial Perception Jul 30, 2025

In precision manufacturing, automated production lines and even medical equipment, the magnitude and direction of force are key parameters for controlling quality. The S-shaped force sensor, which can convert intangible forces into precise digital signals, is quietly becoming the "sensory nerve" of these systems.

Core Feature: Not Just "Looks like S"

The S-type sensor is named for its unique elastic body structure, which is shaped like the letter "S". But its value goes far beyond its appearance:

Bidirectional force measurement: A single sensor simultaneously supports  tensile and compressive measurements. For instance, the NF3XX model can seamlessly switch between pressure control and hook tension monitoring in welding machines.

Anti-interference design: The S-shaped beam structure endows it with excellent torsional and eccentric load resistance. Even if there is a slight deviation in the force direction, it can still maintain a high repeatability accuracy of ±0.03%FS.

Environmental Strong and Resilient Type: With IP65 sealed protection and a working temperature range of -20℃ to 80℃, it can operate stably in dusty workshops or cold chain warehouses.

Its core adopts a foil strain gauge adhered to an alloy steel elastic body. When subjected to force, it undergoes micrometer-level deformation. The strain is converted into an electrical signal through a Wheatstone bridge. It is precisely this principle of "sensing force through deformation" that supports precise measurements ranging from grams to thousands of tons.

Industrial Applications: From "Steel Behemoth" to "Precision Hand"

1. Industrial weighing system: heavy-duty guardian

In scenarios such as steel plant hopper scales or port truck scales, sensors need to withstand impacts of hundreds of tons. For instance, the 50t range S type forse sensor, through a double-hole shear structure, disperses stress and, in combination with temperature compensation technology (thermal drift <0.05%FS/10℃), ensures that the ore weighing error is less than 0.1%. Its sealing process can resist high humidity corrosion and has a lifespan of over 100,000 times.

2. Material mechanics testing machine: The eye of scientific research

The universal tensile testing machine relies on S-beam force sensors as the "heart of force value". Take the servo motor-driven model as an example:

The sensor captures parameters such as yield strength and fracture point in real time.

In conjunction with 2000Hz high-speed sampling, draw precise stress-strain curves;

The measurement range covers 1N to 100kN (such as MFS-07 and FN3280), meeting the testing requirements from the fragility of thin films to the ultimate strength of reinforcing bars.

For instance, in the testing of new energy battery separators, the FN3280 sensor can distinguish 5N puncture force with an accuracy of ±0.1%FS, safeguarding battery safety.

3. Automated production line: the "touch" of precision assembly

On consumer electronics production lines, sensors have transformed into "mechanical fingertips" :

Monitor the insertion and extraction force of the Type-C interface (within the range of 20 to 50N) in the insertion and extraction force tester.

Control the bonding pressure of OLED screens in the  cold and hot press film laminating machine (±0.05%FS error zone);

The mechanical self-stop protection function can prevent 100 times overload impact on the equipment (such as the FN3148 model).

4. Innovative applications in special scenarios

Medical Infusion Monitoring: The residual amount of infusion bags is monitored by a hanging scale sensor, with an accuracy of Dak grade;

Automobile Crash Test: Integrated into the seat belt anchor point, capturing millisecond-level impact force peaks;

Smart Home Appliances: The microwave oven automatically adjusts the heating time based on the weight of the food.
